The Full Story
The Hera Project is a pioneering, female-led initiative set to reshape elite women’s cycling—on the bike and behind the scenes.
Designed to close the gender gap in professional cycling, The Hera Project provides structured mentorship, holistic rider development, and clear career pathways for women in both performance and support roles. Within 36 months, the project aims to achieve UCI Continental Team status, establishing a new benchmark for inclusivity, professionalism, and sustainable growth in the sport.
A New Standard in Women’s Cycling
The Hera Project is creating a fully integrated, performance-focused development model that invests equally in riders and staff. The program includes:
-
Staff Development: Clear entry routes for women into technical and leadership roles, including Directeur Sportif, coach, soigneur, and mechanic, supported by hands-on experience.
-
Rider-First Growth: Prioritising athlete wellbeing, mental health, and long-term performance through tailored coaching and support.
-
Education & Mentorship: Access to elite-level mentors and professional education in nutrition, physiology, and self-care.
-
Academic Partnerships: Collaboration with universities and research institutions to advance innovation in sports science.
-
Career Transition: Structured pathways for female athletes to transition into coaching, management, and performance roles post-racing.
